Sustainability & Community
Our commitment to sustainability and community welfare
At BCS(UK) Ltd, we believe that our role goes beyond providing exceptional commercial cleaning services. Our commitment to sustainability and creating healthy environments is at the heart of everything we do. As a leading cleaning company based in the UK, we are dedicated to implementing eco-friendly practices that not only minimise our environmental footprint but also promote the well-being and productivity of the spaces we clean.
Sustainability & Environmental
Company Vehicles
- 100% of operatives will undertake fuel-efficiency training upon induction and annually thereafter.
- We will implement 14% of company cars being hybrid or electric by 2025.
Waste management
- Cleaning chemicals are purchased in bulk locally, delivered as a single unit in our bespoke, labelled bottles, ready for use. This minimises delivery packaging and waste from transfer containers.
- Utilising more durable equipment (e.g. microfibre cleaning cloths), reducing waste through reusing items.
- Bottles triggers are completely recyclable.
- Operatives will deliver bulk waste items (e.g. damaged furniture) directly to Greenworld (PE30 2HY).
- Vehicles include waste segregation units to separate recyclable materials, e.g. product packaging.
Training
- Operatives receive training upon induction and annually thereafter on our environmental policy and processes, e.g. remaining conscious of the impact of unnecessary waste and whether resources need to be disposed of.
Local supply chains
As a company based in Kings Lynn (PE30 1PH), we have developed a robust employment and supply chain strategy which will result in 100% of the contract value spent directly within the local area.
Local labour
- Currently, we directly employ 90+ operatives: 100% of them are within a 30 miles from King’s Lynn.
- We provide clear paths of progression, training, and ongoing development for our directly employed staff which supports long-term career opportunities, earning potential and prosperity and retaining local talent.
These measures are applied company-wide, reflecting our aim to help stimulate the local economy and support jobs through the wider supply chain as part of an integrated social value strategy.
Staff wellbeing
Our turnover rate is 10%, with the six years as the average length of service. In reducing turnover, we ensure:
- An open-door policy with a direct line to management.
- Work-life balance – rotas are set three weeks in advance with set patterns of weekend working and flexibility.
- An enhanced pension and bonus scheme, guaranteeing continuity of service with high-quality, value-aligned operatives.
